Oral communication is a key factor for success. There are simple and effective “tips” to improve your speaking abilities to present yourself, elaborate on your career path, preferences, motivations, etc.

The “Fit” Strategy

“Fit” is a part of the evaluation process, consisting of essential questions that recruiters ask themselves :

  • Do I want this person on my team ?
  • Is this candidate compatible with the company, its growth prospects, and its culture ?
  • Do I want to know more about this candidate ?

This often translates into the following questions :

  1. Can you introduce yourself ? Develop a good storytelling of the different stages of your career in a structured and coherent manner, following a red line (the STAR method is effective for structuring experiences).
  2. Why these choices ? What were your motivations ? It is necessary to argue your choices constructively. Mentioning a “wrong” decision along the way, in your career path or reorientation is not a problem if your arguments are structured and coherent.
  3. Finally, there will be questions about more personal aspects of your CV (hobbies, international experiences, charity, sports, etc.).

Additional questions may arise :

  • Self-analysis questions to determine if you can identify areas for improvement
  • Questions about past and real-life situations, such as a challenge you had to overcome
  • Hypothetical scenarios to evaluate your proactivity and reasoning skills

These questions are natural and are not meant to destabilize the candidate; they are simply to assess the authenticity and sincerity of the shared information.
